Authorities in Sherburne County are investigating a potential social media tie between a suspect and 7-year-old that was abducted in Zimmerman, but has since been found safe.

The 28-year-old from Maple Grove is facing kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct charges.

One searcher said about 2,000 people showed up to look for the girl.

Just after 9:30p.m. Thursday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued the Amber Alert for a 10-year-old boy and his 8-year-old sister who were missing. The children, who were found safe, had last been seen about 6:30p.m. on Thursday near Barry and Maple Woods Road in Kansas City, according to Kansas City Police.

Police say the incident underscores the importance of public awareness and swift interagency coordination during AMBER Alerts.
