Winter looks to be taking aim on the Kansas City region this weekend with snow and dangerous cold on the menu.
A winter storm is headed to the Tri-State Area with heavy snow expected. New Yorkers could see a significant amount with more than 6 inches Sunday night into Monday.
Ahead of the snow, a cold weather advisory has been issued for the Poconos from 7 p.m. Jan. 23 to 10 a.m. Jan. 24. Pike and Wayne counties could see wind chills as low as -25, while Carbon and Monroe may get as low as -20.
Arctic air is expected to arrive Thursday night across Colorado and persist through the weekend, bringing freezing temperatures and snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Mixed precipitation -- snow and ice -- are likely to begin Saturday. We will see winter weather, but it's too early to be confident about the precise location and amounts.

Sunday: Precipitation may become more mixed, with sleet and cold rain, and possibly a few snowflakes mixed in at times.
