My first daffodil! 💛 13 years of botanical illustration and here we are. I think I’ve always been little bit afraid of yellow flowers - perhaps subconsciously. I’ve never really painted them before. What a lovely challenge - finding those subtle (and not so subtle) shadows in amongst those bright yellows and oranges. I used a soft violet, mostly, for the shadows. I think this process worked quite well. I know there are lots of other ways to paint yellow, but this is the one that came naturally
